Katherine’s initial training is in RAD and ISTD ballet to Advanced with Joan Irvine QSM in Dannevirke NZ, a Royal Ballet School trained teacher and RAD examiner. She then completed 2 years of professional training at the National Theatre Ballet School, Melbourne under the directorship of Ann Jenner a former Royal Ballet Principle.


From Melbourne, Katherine travelled to Europe where she performed with Vienna Festival Ballet in Europe over a period of 4 years. Here she had the benefit of working with Ballet Mistress Shelia Styles a former dancer with the Royal Ballet Touring Company and student of the Royal Ballet School. When resting in London over summer breaks she also took advantage of some of the other wonderful teachers practicing there, of note is John Prinz - Principal NYCB and ABT.


Roles performed included, Clara – The Nutcracker, Pas de trois, Cygnet, Neapolitan – Swan Lake, Fairy of Grace, Aurora’s friend, White Cat – Sleeping Beauty. Other ballets performed include, Cinderella, Giselle and Coppelia. Katherine has also performed Les Sylphides and Don Quixote. 
The pull of New Zealand as home was always present for Katherine, on returning in the mid 1990’s she continued to dance here as a performer, a student, and a teacher. Of note are multiple performances organised by a collaborative group working with Katherine and funded by Auckland Council - Creative Communities Grants, as well as taking classes with Timothy Gordon an Australian and World-renowned teacher and choreographer.


In addition to teaching open classes at Wellesley Studio’s Katherine also teaches RAD ballet and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT certified teacher) at AWDA /Rhythm n Steps Dance Academy, West Auckland. 

Katherine's teaching style is mainly influenced by the English style of her training and company. Her teaching philosophy is based around supporting a sound and safe technique, while fostering a joy of ballet as a moving/performing art.
